Project life Cards Video with Shimmerz Mono Tonez

A new Video this week for Shimmerz Paints.

Shimmerz Have released an new line of paint collections.  Mono Tonez have hit the shelves.  These paints are a collection of both old and new colours across several ranges in the Shimmerz Lines. They are all monochromatic colours and they are just cool!

The collection I used in this video are the Gold Tonez.

I used the collection to paint watercolour paper (300 gsm from Canson) and then cut it up and used it to create a Project Life cards for a coordinating spread....

Art Journal Project

Here's my Page.  You can see the water coloured background.  I used Shimmerz Inklingz!  Love,Love,Love these!!!

Here's a quick run through of what I did.....

I began by covering my whole page with Clear Gesso, making the paper less absorbent for wet media.

I painted my girls face, using Ceramcoat paint in Santa's Flesh and drew on her features and hair with Prisma's. 

Then tore up strips of music paper and glued it all onto her hair with gel medium.  Gel medium is a more slick surface than I would like, so I gave the hair another coat of clear gesso.

I let this dry and then added in the pencil lines indicating hair with a Prisma Color Pencil.

The hair was done with Vibez Razzle Dazzle Berry.

I put the Vibez in an aqua brush and painted it on in layers.   

Something fun......
I adore Prisma Color Pencils.  Like really love them.
Something interesting and very unexpected happens to them when used on Clear Gesso with the Vibez and water..... They behave a little like water colour pencils, and become soluble!  (So cool!)  Not sure why....but they do.  Who am I to argue.  Just work with it!

Next I got out My Inklingz.

I used the Pearl collection.

First I sprayed the background with water, then after activating the Inklingz with water, I loosely brushed the colour on.

Lastly I did some brush lettering and added a quote using India Ink.

Palette #118 The Scrap Cake

This past week has been the start of The Scrap Cake Sponsorship at The Color Room.
Seriously pretty goodies to play with and at least two of the collections that are being focused on in the next few weeks are Designed by one of our Designers Karola Witczak.  Stunning Papers and the palettes this month will reflect this....

I used some Shimmerz- Mango Madness featured in there quite heavily.....So pretty!!!

A Faber Castell Gelato (blue metalic)

and a Blue Faber Castell Big Brush Marker and a stamp......

(Plus a bit of normal stamping in black there too.)

Here is a Page share.  It is created with the Megs Garden Palette and Shimmerz Paints.

It does double duty this time (TCR and the Shimmerz Blog!!!)

It was lovely working with Megs Garden Papers.  They are all vintage and beautiful!  Very elegant.

I grunged mine up this time with white paint and two colours of Pearlz Paints (Papa Purple and Blue into town.)  Which went very nicely with the palette and the papers.

1. I added white paint nice and thick with a credit card
2. I added some drips with a wash of the same paint
3. I dipped a lid into some blue into town pearlz that I painted onto my craft sheet in a little puddle, then painted in the centres to make nice circles (I did a couple of Papa Purple ones too)
4. I splattered some Papa Purple over the top as well
5. I painted any embellishments (tickets in this case) to match with what was left over on my craft sheet.  I used my fingers so it was a bit streaky
Then I layered all the other embellishments together.

Helmar 450 Quickdry held it all together!!!

These are come cute pictures my friend Miranda took of  her DD, My DD and Janines DD.  So cute to see them all together like this, they are usually much too busy (or we are....) to stop and get them posing at once!!!!  Glad Miranda got it!!

Ok.....off to go and work on the mornings release....with another gorgeous Megs Garden Palette.....

Shimmerz Creating

My Day for Shimmering over at the Shimmerz Blog today!!!!!

This one was super messy.  I got paint and gesso all over my table, but it was fun to get all artsy!!!!!

It totally took on a mind of its own.  It turned out NOTHING like I had planned.  But it was fun getting my grunge on!

I painted and spritzed and dripped my way through this!!!!

Cool!  Love getting my hands dirty!

A video for Shimmerz Paints.

I made a little swatch book to help me keep track of all the paints and sprays in the ranges.  (Way over 100 of them now!!!)  And I have found it so helpful in that regard to see what I have and have not got.  BUT......The reason I love it now is something I didnt plan for, but I use it so often now to select colour palettes with the paints.  Sometimes its near impossible for me to dream up unexpected colour schemes, and I tend to be drawn to the same colours I love.  With this little swatch book though, I can pull out the pages and hold the 'actual' colours of the sprays and paints -once dried (which is sometimes deceivingly different than it looks from the bottle or pot)  next to each other and find schemes which I never would have dreamt up myself!
I rely on it so much now.
