THE COLOR ROOM

UPCLOSE AND PERSONAL.......a bit about me you may not know.....

1.    I am from Adelaide in South Australia, and I am an educator for both Shimmerz Paints and Helmar USA,  I also run, design, make palettes and draw sketches for The Color Room's Website.
2.    I Live with my DH, a DS 8, a DD 6, a Boxer(dog), a Russian Blue(Cat), a cockatiel, a Lawsons Dragon and some goldfish
3.    On my desk right now you will find The Layout for this palette, my art journal some replenishment Helmar products I just received, my video camera, brushes, heat gun, water jars and a little tub of odds and ends which have no home!!!!
4.    My favourite colours to work with at the moment are aqua blue and light bright orange
5.    What kind of themes do you often scrap? I like to record moments and the everyday stuff.  Things have already changed so much since the kids were very small and I appreciate the layouts I have done on what the kids liked or did at certain ages, or what the kids rooms looked like back in 2007 already very different to now.
6.    Where do you scrap?  I scrap in our open plan dining/lounge room, right where everyone is.  I like to have company rather than being alone, so this suits me fine.
7.    What is your scrapping process?  I usually pick my photos first and see what inspires me, a great topic I am looking forward to recording or just a good photo often helps me with my selection of papers and embellishments, lastly I dream up my Title and then my journaling.
8.    My favourite food is a good Lasagne or pasta meal
9.    My top 3 favourite tools are my guillotine paper trimmer, my cropodile and my bind it all.
10. I get my inspiration from everywhere I look- mainly advertisements, website layouts, magazines and decor sites,  TV Shows and ads....the list goes on.....
11. Describe a Technique you used on your project this week
A technique.....mmmm.......My Layout is a fairly simple one 'technique wise' this week.  I can tell you how I created the background though....
I used a palette knife and spread thick white paint roughly and with texture over the area I wanted to 'frame' my photo.  I dried this with a heat tool.  Then I found some transparent celophane with a pretty white swirl print on it, which I kept from some flowers John bough home for me the other day.  I tore this haphazardly and then used V2 Vellum Adhesive (Helmar) to stick it down, arranging the swirls as I went.  Then I stitched a square in straight stitch on my machine, which forms a more geometric frame around my photos.  I spritzed this with SHIMMERZ VIBEZ ''Anchors away" just lightly.  And voila.....a background!

If you want an extra challenge this week, My tip would be to find something 'found' or recycle something to use in your project this week......You can certainly have a go painting your background frame, and maybe stitching paper, surviettes, vellum or celophane/transparency....(only limited by your imagination!)

Now all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and answer the following question
WHAT IS MY FAVOURITE FOOD? (question 8)  A hard one!!!! LOL

Thanks so much for joining me here today.  I will see you back at TCR.
now you are heading to MELISSA'S BLOG

TCR's Palette this week.....

It a good one! ( I like the black and pinks anyway!!!!)

If you would like to join in.....head over HERE
Lots of inspiration already on the PhotoWall!

Heres what I did with the palette this week......

Sponsored by AMY from www.scrapbookinghaven.com.au
You have got to check out her store. She has some of the cheapest prices I have seen online. A great delection too!!!! Mists and flowers, prima branches and bling on this one.

There is some recycling on this too. The black flower and the corrugated plastic stuff is from a box of Haighs chocolate My DH bought me for Valentines day. They were so expensive, I HAD to use the packaging as well. The chocs were not that nice, (actually that is being very polite.....they were nasty) so that was even more incentive to do something with what was left.......LOL.
NOTE/......steer clear of the 'Australian collection'.....containing toffee and wattle seeds - which do not come out of your teeth and I am certain you are not actually meant to eat, 'cause you really cant chew them......and lemon myrtal which features a lovely flavour not too dissimilar to the aroma of citrus tiolet freshener
AND strawberry and pepperberry.....not pleasant. Now I walk in the park and smell some strong (and slightly unpleasant) aroma from the shrubs here and there and think 'Haighs would probably be all over that to put in a chocolate'. Dont get me wrong. I LOVE haighs chocolate....their mint chocolate is to die for....but The Australia collection.....not so much.
