December Tutorial for MCS.

Here is my Tutorial this month for My Creative Scrapbook!
I loved working with this December Main Kit!

I decided on a December Daily.  I am falling behind my Project life dismally, and I thought this might be a way of recording the weeks leading up to Christmas a little easier!

So here's how I did this.
Very simple with no real over the top embellishing.
I figure I would add a little more once I sort out my photos and journaling.

'Keep it simple' was my motto.

Check out How to Create a Simple December Daily Album! by Lydell Quin on Snapguide.

Hope you will give this a try sometime.
Doesn't even have to be a December Daily....any album you feel like making would be fine!

Have a great day!

My Creative Scrapbook December Kit

Its Christmas this month at My Creative Scrapbook.  The Main Kit is gorgeously Christmas-sy!

This month I made my first ever December Daily album.
I have resisted for years, and decided with these lovely papers, that this year was the time!!!

Here's a few of the inside pages, just waiting for photos!

I decorated them simply to allow for variances in photo sizes and added journaling

....Cant wait to fill this in.  I have been dutifully taken pictures each day.

I also created a Project Life spread just for Christmas Day.
We are having Christmas at our home this year and we will have lots of family here, so it will be nice to have something ready for all the photos!

next I made a whole bunch of tags for the gifts.......
(I liked this one, so I cut it apart and added it to my pocket page above!

Here's some of the others.

So that's all my Christmas tags done, and they are keepsakes as well!
.....and that brings me to the end of my December kit productions!  As always I could totally keep going and make more if time permitted!

Check out the December kit HERE  and have a great time creating!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Simple Card set using an MCS Kit

Have you dropped by My Creative Scrapbook to check out their scrapbook kits?  I really enjoy working with them, Pam does an amazing job at putting together fabulous papers and embellishments....

Every now and then I realise I am out of cards.  I like having a decent stash to pick from when we have a birthday or special event...or even a just because card.....and I was out.  so I selected this gorgeous teal floral patterned paper and some of the stickers in the pack.  I coloured some of the flowers I previously pulled apart with Shimmerz Paint, and they went nicely on a couple!
Project 5
Cards

And a few closer....

They are super simple.

I need to keep making a few cards at the end of every kit production, so I build myself a little stash again!  This worked great!

Project Life-embarrassing confession.

I am so far behind Project Life it is not funny. (Sigh)
I have no idea if I can catch up....at this point I am thinking I will mix months and/or weeks together.
It's ok though.
What ever!

One thing I have decided though, is to make my PL a little simpler.  SIMPLIFY.
I am addicted to embellishing.  But I just cant keep it up with other deadlines.  So here's one which is a little simpler than my usual.  Its not a showy one.  Its just a spread.  It still tells our story.

I used the November Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.  As you can see this kit goes a long way.  This is project #6!  I still have kit left, and could make another project life spread out of it, and probably another couple of pages.

Project Life  Week 44
More black, grey and teal.....Mmm  mmmm!

And side B

See Simple!  It still has the words, It still has the story, I still has the pictures.....It has all it needs.  And it only took me an hour or so to put together, after I cut up the papers.

Now that's cool.

Maybe I can catch up. ;-)

See you again soon!

A touch of Teal?

Hello!

Another quick share today....my next project using the November MCS Creative Kit

My little girl recently broke her arm at school.  It was a really nasty 24 hours, we had an overnight hospital stay and she had to go to theatre for surgery after 11 or so hours of waiting.
It was hard waiting that long with a little one in agony.
This photo was taken the morning after the surgery....She was exhausted

"Thinking of you"

I pulled out all the similar teal colours in the kit for this page, to give it a monochromatic feel.
I did some fussy cutting from a floral sheet in the kit and used the template to cut the ampersand out of the coordinating patterned paper.  I pulled apart the flowers and made them less dimensional, placing a string tied button in the centre of each.

Some doilies peeking out from behind, some punched stars, a splattering of Shimmerz Coloringz,
a few stickers.....and a little layering!

My journaling was written on strips of cardstock and then cut apart and stacked on top of each other.

You know sometimes a page just feels good from start to finish...
the colours work, the embellishments work, and it just comes together?
This was one of those.
I loved working on this one.
I just wish they happened more often!

I hope you will check back soon, for more fun projects using the MCS kit.  :-)

Have a good day!

Black, White and Grey with a touch of Teal.....

Hello today!
It is a good day to create.  I am sharing another project from the MCS Kit for November
I used the Creative Kit this month.

"Hello Everyday Life"
These gorgeous papers layered together make a Layout easy!

The drips on this page are a brand new Shimmerz Coloringz colour, which is one of my new favourites!  Love "A shade of grey"  such a great dark grey.
(If you head to the Shimmerz Store to get your own...Mention my name in the NOTES TO MERCHANT, and you can choose a FREE paint)

I loved these sticker words in the kit.  I adhered them dimensionally with liquid Scrap dots from Helmar.
The black, white and grey with the pop of teal works well together.  So pretty!

So it was a super quick share today!
I will be back again soon :-)

Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a good one.

My Creative Scrapbook November Creative Kit.

A new month Means Lots of new Projects with the My Creative Scrapbook Kits.....
I got The Creative Kit.  Its a different kit than the one I usually work with BUT I Loved it!!!!

Here is the Kit....

Here one of the pages I created using this kit!

"Grandpa's Glasses"
Fun with Shimmerz Paints Sprays and an acylic block

Loved the colours here.  Red, black and yellow.
Not a colour scheme that comes to mind when I think of an appealing palette
But it works.
and I like it!  LOL

a few colours of Shimmerz Paint in the background sets the scene nicely and softens the background.
Paint creates depth in that it makes layers on your project without adding bulk....there are 3 layers of colours here before we even start on the paper and other embellishments!
Paint is cool!

Little groupings of embellishments work in negative space, creating a little more balance

and of course a sweet little doily!  Love adding doilies!!!!  Some sticker labels with their corners rounded, makes some cool tabs with with tiny attacher.  Some punched stars and circles and some Grey Shimmerz Coloringz finishes it all off just nicely!

October Tutorial. MCS

Today  I have the October Tutorial to share with you.  I thought I would show you quickly how I created this Page.  I used the October Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

I had lots of Artsy fun with this page, and you can see it morph with the layering in the pictures below.
It really is a layered piece!

First I used stencils and brown Ink to add some texture to the background.
Then I added paint and sprayed with water and dry brushed it on here and there.

I used a bottle lid stamped in india ink, to leave circles around the page, with some black drips added with a dip pen dipped in the india ink.
I wrote words, drew scraggly circles in varying sizes and just made marks.

I hand cut some letters for my Title from the Paper in the kit, and I painted them with the Shimmerzy Paint!  Gorgeous!

I pulled out elements that would work.
a doily
the hexagonal chip shapes....which I painted with crackle texture paint, and then green paint, then Shimmerz Paint.
The ribbon (olive green organza)
A title that matched what I wanted to say
A flower I pulled apart and sprayed with Shimmerz

Then I started fiddling about with the layers and the placement of the bits and pieces.

By this stage I wanted to take it back a bit, and tone down the strong colour.
So I swiped gesso over the background, and used the end of the paint brush to made circles all around, with the Shimmerz Paint , framing my focal area of the page

Lots and lots of texture.

I let that dry and adhered down all the pieces .

Here's some of the layers and embellishing close up.
I stick little bits here and there to create groupings and fill spaces.
Little pieces of left over string, Folded ribbons
Little labels and strips cut up
and little stickers....
(I adore those owls.  You can use the 'Owl' sheet of paper in the kit and cut out the sweet little owls and you can have owls forever!!!)

I wrote my journalling on strips and cut it up to place down the side of the page.

It changed a bit over its production, but I liked how it came out in the end.
And I almost gave it up several times,  I set it aside, and kept going back to it, because I loved the colours with the striped Paper.....I learned two things.....1- sometimes it pays to persist......and 2- almost anything can be saved....sometimes you just need to set it aside, and come back to it with fresh eyes.
